The next five-year strategic plan for Warren County Schools was jumpstarted Thursday night as committees were formed to study how to make the local educational system even better.“Four years ago we set out a strategic plan and we followed it fairly closely,” said Director Schools Bobby Cox, speaking to an audience of about 75 in the high school auditorium. “We felt it was time to relook at what we’re doing and where we want to be five years from now.”Given the need for a new plan in the coming years, Cox and the Board of Education assembled a team of local volunteers from the school system, County Commission, the parent advisory board, and concerned citizens to meet Thursday evening in what was the first in several brainstorming sessions, covering seven areas of interest. The committees will culminate in presenting reports by May, from which, the strategic five-year plan will become a living document.“By living document, I mean something the people can look at and see where we’re planning to go in the coming years,” Cox said. The first area of interest is a focus on literacy.
