Just because you’re not 18 years old by the Oct. 5 registration deadline doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be able to vote in the upcoming election.
“If you turn 18 on Election Day, which is Nov. 3 this year, as long as you register to vote by Oct. 5 you’re going to be eligible to vote in that election,” said Susie Davenport of the Warren County Election Commission. “I have a commissioner who has voted in every election since he was eligible on his birthday one year. I think that was possibly for Eisenhower. He thinks he may have a Guinness record.”
Davenport urges anyone who will turn 18 by Election Day on Nov. 3 register to vote at the Administration Building by the Monday, Oct. 5 deadline.
Oct. 5 is also the deadline to register as a property rights voter.
“All four of our cities, Centertown, McMinnville, Morrison, and Viola by charter allow for property rights voting but you do have to bring a copy of the deed into our office showing you as a listed owner on that property,” Davenport said. “I want to get that word out because the Monday, Oct. 5 deadline is coming up fast.
