Veterans to be honored at Park Theater tomorrow

American Legion Post 173 will be teaming up with city and county officials to honor veterans at a Veterans Day celebration on Thursday, Nov. 11.

This event will take place at Park Theater and the doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and the event will start at 5 p.m. This celebration is free and refreshments will be served. Veterans, families, supporters and friends are welcome to attend. Lt. Col. Jonathon F. Flanders will be the keynote speaker.

Lt. Col. Flanders was born in McMinnville in 1973 and served on active duty for 10 years in numerous logistics and transportation roles, including vehicles, planes, and aerial port operations, as well as executive officer to PACAF/A4. He joined the Air Force Reserves at Hickam AFB, Hawaii where he served as exercise Battle Captain and other key positions on the JTF-519 staff. Lt Col Flanders served as the Commander of the 25th Aerial Port Squadron, 908th Airlift Wing at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama prior to becoming Inspector General at the 78th Air Base Wing, Warner Robins Air Force Base, Ga. 

Lt. Col. Flanders is highly decorated with many awards. 

Along with Lt. Col. Flanders doing the keynote address, County Executive Jimmy Haley will give a proclamation and McMinnville Mayor Ryle Chastain will present a certificate of merit. Veterans and certain service organizations will be honored and veteran photos will be available with the help of Miller Photography. 

The celebration is open to the public and all veterans and their families are invited as those who served are honored.
