A man has been sentenced to a month in jail after putting a knife to his nephew’s throat during a domestic dispute in which he also punched his nephew's girlfriend and brother.

The man, Tommy Lynn Bouldin, 38, entered guilty pleas before General Sessions Judge Bill Locke to charges of vandalism and domestic assault. He was instructed to serve 40 days of an 11-month, 29-day sentence and was ordered to undergo a mental exam. The charge of felony assault was dismissed as a result of his plea.

The victims told deputies Bouldin showed up drunk at his nephew’s residence.

“He broke the front door of the trailer,” said deputy Rusty Woodlee of the incident, noting Bouldin punched his nephew’s girlfriend in the stomach and then headed toward his nephew. “He went to the bedroom where his nephew was and punched a hole in the door to gain entrance.”

Once inside, Bouldin held a knife to his nephew’s throat and threatened to “kill everyone in the residence.”
Along with that assault, Bouldin’s brother reportedly tried to get the defendant to leave but was punched in the head.
