Two women were hospitalized Monday morning after an intersection collision in which both drivers claimed to have the green light.
Injured were Judy Green, 69, and Marsha Christy, 67, who were both traveling in the same vehicle, a white Kia Rio.
Green was the driver of the Kia, which was traveling on S. High Street. She had just passed the NAPA garage and entered the intersection at W. Main Street when she collided with a GMC Sierra pickup driven by Theron Killian, 49.
The pickup hit the car almost squarely on the driver’s side door in a T-bone collision. Emergency responders had to use the Jaws of Life to rip off the driver’s side door to place Green on a stretcher.
Both Green and Christy were transported to Saint Thomas River Park Hospital. Killian was not injured and was able to drive his pickup from the wreck site.
No citations were given.
“I couldn’t determine who ran the red light,” said McMinnville police officer Katelyn Neal, who investigated the crash. “They both said they had the green light, which is impossible.”
