Viola Valley Homecoming will be Aug. 21, but there will not be an On the Road Again Show this year.

Viola Valley Homecoming Commission president Trent Prater said that there just was not enough time for the popular lip-synching show due to the other events.

“A lot of it has to do with starting the pull early,” said Prater.

This year there will be three different truck and tractor pulls. The first is the Warren County Antique Tractor Pull starting at 11 a.m. and then there will be a Kid’s Pedal Pull at 3:30 p.m. before the main MTPA-sanctioned Tractor Pull starting at 7 p.m.

The theme of the homecoming is Small Town USA.

Instead of floats in the parade, there will pickup trucks. Participants who wish to enter need to pay a $5 entry fee and are encouraged to decorate their trucks according to the theme. There will be cash prizes for the first, second and third place finishers in the parade.

There will also not be as many bands this year. The noise from the truck and tractor pulls interfere with the bands, so this year there will only be two bands performing. Steven Potter and his Star Band will perform from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and the McMinnville Silver and Gold Band is performing next from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Kicking off Viola Valley Homecoming will be the parade at 10 a.m.
