A third Warren County Middle School student has been arrested for posting threats on social media.

In a press release from the Sheriff’s Department Friday afternoon, Sheriff Jackie Matheny Jr. announced that the department learned of a social media post making a threat to bring a gun to school last Monday. Matheny then assigned investigators and a School Resource Officer to the case.

Within an hour, investigators identified and located the 13-year-old boy responsible for the threats. This student was then arrested and charged with making a threat of mass violence at a school. He is currently being detained in a juvenile detention center and will appear in court next week.

This is the third Warren County Middle School student to be arrested within the last month. The two other students were both were arrested for making threats against the school on social media and were both charged with filing a false report and making threats of mass violence on school property.

Matheny asks parents to please monitor their children’s social media accounts. He also promises that threats like these will always be taken seriously.

“Our office will take all threats of violence toward a school seriously,” said Matheny in the press release.
