The Jungle awaits

Luke Nafrada plays the lead role of Tarzan, flanked by Savannah Saylors, right, as Jane and Anna Kneip as his ape mother, Kala. The Dream Reality Group production opens Aug. 3 at the Park Theater.

Me Tarzan … you Park Theater.
The King of the Jungle is about to meet the grandest stage in McMinnville when “Tarzan the Musical” swings in for four performances at the Park Theater in August.
The play will be based on the classic Tarzan story and feature the music of rock legend Phil Collins, including the hit “You’ll Be in My Heart.”
It will mark the seventh Park Theater play for Dream Reality Group and director Logan Taylor. Dream Reality Group is coming off highly praised productions of “High School Musical” and “Hairspray.”
“This will be unlike anything we’ve ever seen here,” said Taylor. “Bar none, I think it’s the best show we’ve ever produced.”
Tarzan will be swinging onto the Park Theater stage, literally, thanks to flying effects from a Chicago-based company named Vertigo. Taylor says that’s not the only element which will stun as costumes and scenery are dazzling.
“We have 50 costumes and they are all custom made,” said Taylor. “The set is also spectacular with trees that wrap around the entire stage.”
Luke Nafrada is playing the lead role of Tarzan with Savannah Saylors in her first featured role as Jane. Veteran stage performer Anna Kneip plays Tarzan’s ape mother.
The story follows an infant boy who washes ashore in West Africa and is taken in and raised by gorillas. Tarzan accepts his ape existence until a human expedition finds its way into his troop’s territory and that’s when his life begins to change.
Encountering creatures like himself for the first time, Tarzan endures mental struggles as he discovers his animal upbringing differs from his human instincts.
Tickets are currently on sale at the Park Theater box office or through Ticket Biscuit.
