Don't be a Grinch. Participate in this year's McMinnville Christmas Parade. The deadline to enter is this Friday.

The deadline for entering the city of McMinnville’s 2017 Christmas Parade is close of business this Friday, Nov. 17. No late entries will be accepted.
This year’s parade to usher in holiday cheer is Dec. 2 and begins at 2:30 p.m. The theme is Superheroes for Christmas.
Up for grabs will be cash prizes totaling $1,575:
• People’s Choice Award – $200
• Best Band – $100
• Church/ civic/ community organization/ large nonprofit organization – first place $150, second place $100, third place $50
• Small club/ nonprofit (less than 20 members) – first place $100, second place $75, third place $50
• School-sponsored group – first place $200, second place $150, third place $100
• Businesses – first place $50 and trophy, second place $25 and trophy
• Horse and rider club/ mules or horses and hitch – first place $50, second place $25
• Antique car or truck – first place $75, second place $50, third place $25
Parade participants are encouraged to stay within the theme. It can be any superhero/ Christmas theme. Parade participants are urged to be careful not to include a Santa Claus in their entry. There should only be one St. Nick in the parade and he takes his place of honor riding at the end.
The parade runs its traditional route down Main Street and ends at the water tower beside the Farmers Market. During the parade, candy can be handed out -- not thrown. Entry forms may be picked up at City Hall or McMinnville Civic Center. For more information, call 473-1212.
