Tennis court talk starts ball rolling on land swap
tennisctWEB
A land swap is underway to correct an unknown, yet decades old, property line issue between McMinnville Civic Center and West Elementary School. The issue dates back to 1969 and came to light recently with a survey.
A desire by the city of McMinnville to revamp its outdoor tennis courts has served up an unknown property issue between city government, Warren County Schools, and Warren County government.“This began with a conversation between the city of McMinnville and the School Board about swapping some land in the area of West Elementary,” said Robert Bratcher, assistant attorney for Warren County. “They hired Michael Moore, a surveyor, to draw this survey up for the proposed swap. At that time, they discovered some of the land they are discussing is actually owned by the county and not the school system.”Bratcher presented a color-coded map of the area and the information during a county Building and Grounds Committee meeting.
