The deadline to remain Tennessee Promise eligible for federal student aid is looming. Seniors entering college after graduation and expecting financial assistance have until Feb. 1 to apply.
“We don’t want anyone to miss the FAFSA deadline,” said Leah Simpson, who is the minority liaison at WCHS. “FAFSA must be completed by Feb. 1 by any student entering college looking for financial assistance. It’s required to stay compliant with the requirements for the Tennessee Promise Scholarship.”
Apply online at studentaid. gov by clicking on “complete the FAFSA form” which can be located under the “apply for aid” drop box.
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is financial assistance for college and everyone must apply to remain eligible. The U.S. Department of Education’s office of Federal Student Aid provides more than $120 billion in financial aid to help pay for college or career schools each year.
It’s a busy time for seniors, said Simpson, who would also like to remind them to check on local scholarships and national scholarships. Caps and gowns must be ordered by Feb.1 or the price increases.
Help is available for anyone who needs assistance in completing the FAFSA application. During school hours call 668-5858 and ask for Leah Simpson or Jennifer Cantrell. They can also be reached by email at simpsonl@ warrenschools.com or cantrellj@warrenschools. com.
