Several local teachers are raising their hands with a question for the school system after receiving their first paycheck of the year last week.The teachers are wondering why they didn’t get a pay raise after the state approved nearly $105 million this spring to increase teacher salaries.“Over the past three years, teachers in Warren County have gotten a 7.5 percent increase,” said Director of Schools Bobby Cox. “We didn’t have enough money in the budget to give an across-the-board raise this year. We were not financially able to do it, so we had to go with step raises.
