Being the youngest on the Warren County Commission, Cole Taylor says the future of the county is very important to him. Representing District 10, Taylor serves on the Safety and Beer Committee, along with the Building and Grounds Committee.
Here’s a snapshot of Taylor.
Q: Describe yourself.
A: I’m 31 years old and I’ve been married for 10 years to Hailey. She’s a family nurse practitioner. I have two children, Leyton, 6, and Lynlee, 3. I’m a small business owner and have a mowing and landscaping business and I also cut timber for a living. I’m actually the seventh generation from my family to cut timber. I’m also a big supporter of young people and sports.
Q: What are your hobbies and interests?
A: I like to golf, hunt and spend time with my family. I coach both my kids’ ball teams. I’m a big family person so I spend most of my time with them.
Q: Share a fun fact about yourself.
A: I like to make people laugh and smile so I always try to be the comedian everywhere I am.
Q: What is the first thing you think of when you wake in the morning?
A: During the summertime, it’s what all I’ve got to get done that day. I usually start my day at 4:30 a.m. and I’m usually at Crisps Springs Market drinking coffee at the liars’ table every morning.
Q: If you had one extra hour of free time a day, how would you use it?
A: Me and my wife have a very busy life with children, sports and work. At times, I feel like we don’t get to spend a lot time with each other. So, if I had an extra hour, I’d like to spend it just me and her.
Q: What neighborhood do you live in? Where are your favorite places to spend time in Warren County?
A: The Centertown area and one of my favorite places to go is to mine and my dad’s hunting spot in the Rock Island area.
Q: Is there something different about you as compared to the other commissioners? What do you feel you bring to the Board?
A: I’m a small business owner so I do a lot of budgeting on my own and I manage my own business myself so I bring management skills to the table. I’ve got small children so I want to be the best I can for the county to keep them here and see it prosper.
Q: What is it like being a County Commissioner?
A: The best part – I love talking and meeting new people, getting to look into new ideas and getting to be a part of the decisions. The most challenging – you can’t make everyone happy.
Q: What is one project you’d like to see completed during your four-year term?
A: I would like to see our school projects get completed because I want our children to have a nice, safe environment to learn in.
Q: If you received a $1 million grant to use for the county any way you wanted, what would you do with it and why?
A: I’d either donate it toward the sports facilities in the county or build a new sports complex for the young people.
Q: What is the best way for people to contact you?
A: 931-607-0728
