Gentlemen, start your engines.
The Southern Standard’s sixth annual Marketville is scheduled for this Saturday at the Blue Building with a car show being one of the main attractions.
Registration for the car show begins at 8 a.m. with judging to start at 9 a.m. Awards will be presented around noon with the top 25 vehicles getting an attractive plaque.
The car show is just one of the many attractions as there will be an assortment of vendors, around 45 of them, selling everything from yard sale items to crafts. There will also be food vendors with BBQ, hotdogs, Italian ice, popcorn and more.
Marketville hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A 5K race will kick off festivities at 7:30 a.m. just before vendor booths open. Race entry costs $15 with a portion of proceeds to benefit Kids of the Community.
Three contests will be open at no cost to participants. The first five people who register will be eligible for a chocolate milk chugging contest at 10 a.m. with the winner to get a $25 Walmart gift card.
There is no cap on the number of entries in the best tattoo contest at 10:30 a.m. with the winner to get a gift certificate from The Purple Lion, a tattoo parlor.
There will be a hot wing eating contest for the first five people to register at 11 a.m. with the winner to get a $25 Mudbums gift card.
Come out and enjoy the fun.
