A special called meeting of the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen is set for Tuesday, April 30, at 7 p.m.
Under consideration will be a proposed contract between the city of McMinnville and Nolan Ming for him to assume responsibilities as city administrator.
“I’m thankful for this opportunity,” said Ming, who added a light-hearted comment to board members for after the contract is approved. “Now y’all get back to work!”
During its regular session April 23, Ming was offered the administrator position by unanimous vote of the board.
Contract negotiations were then conducted between Ming, Mayor Ben Newman and city attorney Tim Pirtle. The agreement outlines his compensation and benefit package, as well as any performance review conditions and how often those evaluations will be conducted.
Ming has been with the city since 2015 as its Community Development Department director. Yet to be discussed is filling his current position once he assumes the role of administrator. By current city code, the city administrator has authority to hire department directors.
The proposed contract between Ming and the city of McMinnville requires majority board approval. Any proposed changes Tuesday night would require Ming’s approval.
