An evening for a taste of the finer things in beautiful downtown McMinnville is set for this Saturday. The Junior Auxiliary of McMinnville (JA) is presenting the 2024 edition of Sip & Saveur from 6 - 9 p.m. on Sept. 28.
The event, which was started by JA in 2014, will feature a wide variety of downtown businesses welcoming ticket holders for shopping, food, wine or other refreshments and offerings from local artists and entertainers.
Tammy Sliger of JA is excited about welcoming the public to the event and hopes the community can come together to enjoy a night downtown while supporting the organization, local businesses and artists. Downtown road closures will begin at 5 p.m. to accommodate the event.
"We have 26 downtown businesses participating," Sliger said. "Things will operate mostly as they have in the past but we've done a few things to jazz it up a bit. Nelo's food truck is a big addition this year. It will be set up in the street in front of the Court House."
In addition to food, drinks and arts and crafts, various entertainment options will be available at various locations throughout the night.
"There will be two live bands, the Barren Fork River Band at Begonias Restaurant and Carly & James at Evelyn Taylor Avenue. They are a duo from Australia. We also have line dancers coming from out of town. Phi Aesthetics is bringing them in and they will be on N. Spring Street. So that's a new addition," Sliger said.
"We'll have everything from custom trucker hats to a flower bar to an author. We're really excited that 1901 Fragrances, a high-end fragrance company, will be at Waterstone. We're happy to have them," Sliger said. "We've worked really hard on this. We've had a big response to our pre-ticket sales this year. We've sold as many pre-sales as we would usually sell the night of, so we're hoping for a really big turnout."
Sliger and the JA wish to express their appreciation to Somewhere Liquors for helping put the sip in Sip and Saveur.
"Somewhere Liquors is our biggest sponsor and provides alcohol for all of our participating businesses free of charge. Miss Kimberly at Somewhere Liquors has just been wonderful and we couldn't do this without her," Sliger said.
Pre-sale tickets are available for $40 from Sliger at (931) 743-5485 or at Tim's Motors, Security Federal Savings Bank, Tree City Realty and Donald Hillis Realty & Auction. Tickets the night of the event will be $45.
