Morrison Elementary pre-K teacher assistant Jocostia Simmons has been named Warren County School’s Classified Employee of the Month.
Simmons was nominated by parent Courtney Rutherford.
“There has been a lot of absences with the pre-K teacher, however Mrs. JoShell has stepped up and taken the role of being their teacher,” wrote Rutherford. “She greets us every morning with a smile on her face. She loves the kids and goes above and beyond to make sure they are learning and has been the rock at Morrison pre-K. We appreciate everything she has done for us.”
After accepting the certificate from Director of Schools Bobby Cox, Simmons shared her appreciation.
“It’s been an honor,” said Simmons to the School Board. “I started in January and it has been a challenge, but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it and I’m looking forward to a new year.”
The award was given for June.
