Paul Sherrell is proving tough to beat for the 43rd District seat in the Tennessee House.

Sherrell won the Republican Primary on Thursday night in his quest for a fourth term in the state House. Sherrell defeated Bobby Robinson thanks to his support in Warren County.

The two-county 43rd District includes Warren and White counties. Sherrell lost in White County.

“I want to thank the good people of Warren County because they really came out to support me,” said Sherrell. “We’re going to keep campaigning and keep working hard and hopefully we can get another term in November.”

Sherrell won in Warren County by a margin of 3,204 votes to 2,398 votes for Robinson. That’s a difference of 806 votes.

Robinson won in White County with 2,165 votes, while Sherrell gained 1,432 votes. That’s a difference of 733 votes.

Add the two counties together and Sherrell won by 73 votes.

The win advances Sherrell to the statewide General Election on Nov. 8 where he will face Democrat Cheryl Uselton, who advanced unopposed

Uselton is from Morrison. Sherrell is from Sparta.
