The city of McMinnville is once again seeking artists with an eye for storm water preservation.

Local artists have until July 8 to submit a drawing of their design for a chance to have their masterpiece displayed on a storm drain on East Morford Street. The contest is open to anyone age 12 and over.

To enter the contest, send a color sketch of the proposed artwork around a storm drain via email to Lyndon Bussell at lbussell@mcminnvilletn.gov or hand deliver/mail the entry to 1266 Belmont Drive, McMinnville, TN 37110. Please include name, phone number and email address. Text within the artwork is encouraged to convey an educational message.

Bussell, the city’s storm water coordinator, says the Storm Drain Art Contest celebrates the city’s 120 miles of local waterways and the efforts taken by the city to keep local rivers, wetlands, streams and ponds clean, thriving ecosystems, free of pollutants and trash.

The city’s Public Works Department has partnered with the Cumberland River Compact to offer prizes to the top three storm drain works of art. At this time, those have yet to be determined.
