Schools to cut five positions

Director of Schools Bobby Cox says the cuts won't take teachers from the classroom.
Federal education cuts will cost several Warren County teachers their jobs after Uncle Sam reduced funding to local schools by over $300,000.“There were cuts in Title One, Title Two and ESL,” Director of Schools Bobby Cox announced of the surprise reduction in funding. He noted Title One deals with salaries while Title Two deals with professional development. “There is talk Title Two may be cut out altogether next year.”While there was some finger-pointing among members of the School Board, some blaming the new Donald Trump administration for the cutbacks, Cox admitted he does not know for sure if the administration is the culprit.“All we know for sure is we have been cut back $332,167,” said Cox, noting special education was the only area where funding was increased and there it was only by a slight amount.
