Registration for school began on Thursday night and Friday morning. Hundreds of students went to Warren County schools to sign up for classes, see their new classmates and meet their teachers for the upcoming school year.
Dana Hargrove, over school attendance and records at West Elementary, said the number of registered students remains to be seen, but the school should have their final numbers in by Tuesday.
“I have no idea how many we usually have that come in and out of here. I know that last night was really busy. I knew last night would be our busiest night. This morning has been really steady. I would say this has been probably close to the same as we had last year. We have had more students this year registering than we did last year at the beginning of the school year, but as far as numbers – Mr. Swallows will get numbers on Tuesday but right now it is just hard to tell.”
Hargrove noted the registration process went smoothly and there have been several returning students coming to register for classes. “They have been coming in, excited to see everybody. Overall, this process has gone well and has been good so far.”
The first day of school for students is Tuesday, beginning at 7:45 a.m.
