The school year just got a little shorter, for the students anyway, as the Board of Education has decided to convert the final two days of this school year into professional development days. The measure, which passed during a special called session Wednesday night, turned May 23-24 into professional development days, although the partial day to pick up report cards will remain on May 25. Graduation remains unchanged and will be held Friday, May 26.The move comes after the school district found itself with several stockpiled days on its hands. Those are days set aside for snow and other bad weather so the school year will not have to be extended. The school system set aside 10 stockpiled days this year.
