Employees of the Month for the Warren County School System for January were recognized at the most recent School Board meeting.
Shannon Jacobs is Certified Employee of the Month. She works in the Central Office as a consultant and has worked as a special education teacher for 35 years.
She was nominated by director of special education Candice Willmore who said, “She is always student-focused and ensures we are supporting the child the best way we can.”
Jacobs said she feels honored by this recognition and was very surprised.
Tonya McCormick is a teaching assistant at Bobby Ray Memorial Elementary who was recognized as Classified Employee of the Month.
Previously being a custodian, Bobby Ray principal Monti Hillis brought her on this year to help come up with a solution for the children of staff members.
Hillis said, “She embraced the idea of being with our kids and has gone far beyond the extra mile in making it fun.”
McCormick said she was grateful when hearing she received this award. School Board member Bill Zechman pointed out the tremendous challenge McCormick faced transitioning to a completely different job.
These two employees were nominated for their dedication to students and their love of children.
