A man who ran from police twice in the same day but still didn’t get away has been sentenced to a year in jail. The defendant, Christopher Scott, 39, entered a guilty plea before Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley to the charge of evading arrest at the risk of others and was directed to serve 364 days of a four-year sentence. He will be allowed to report to jail Sept. 1 to serve his time. His year in jail comes after police tried to stop him for driving without a license on Beersheba Street. McMinnville Police Sgt. Ben Cantrell said he turned on his blue lights and tried to stop Scott, realizing the suspect was driving on a suspended license.“He accelerated rapidly, passed the vehicle in front of him on a double yellow line, and went into the oncoming lane of traffic almost causing a collision with traffic in the oncoming lane,” Cantrell recalled of the car chase.
