A Cannon County man was injured in a rollover wreck Thursday morning on New Nashville Highway.

Jacky R. Muncy, 80, was traveling outbound in the direction of Woodbury when he failed to navigate a curve in the area of Pigeon Hill Road.

“He was traveling outbound when he drove into the median,” said Warren County Sheriff’s Department Major Jason Walker. “The car flipped once.”

The vehicle went airborne after traveling diagonally down an embankment, across a ditch and into the inbound lanes of traffic. Flipping once, the vehicle landed on its tires and facing inbound.

Muncy, driving a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox, was trapped in the wreckage by the steering wheel. Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to extricate him.

Walker says a “possible medical issue” caused the wreck.

Muncy was airlifted for injuries sustained in the crash. His condition is unknown.

The accident occurred Thursday at approximately 10:30 a.m.
