A woman who cried wolf, telling police she had been robbed, has been granted probation on perjury charges. The woman, Amanda Lynn Vespo, 33, was placed on probation by Circuit Court Judge Bart Stanley for an 11-month, 29-day period. She was also directed to perform 48 hours public service work. Her probation comes after police responded to a call of a mugging in front of Delta Express on Beersheba Highway.“When I arrived I found her lying flat out on the ground by her car’s driver door,” recalled McMinnville policeman Stephen Daniels. When asked what had happened, Vespo told the lawman she stepped back out to her car from the store to get her cellphone when she was accosted by a strange man.“She said he grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head into the car,” Daniels said. “Then, as she lay on the ground, he kicked her in the ribs.”The woman reported the man took her purse which contained all of her cards, her medication including her Alprazolam, $30 cash, her checks, keys and inhaler. However, a witness who was nearby reported seeing nothing happening around the time Vespo said she was mugged.
