Police to increase patrols this Labor Day weekend

If the National Safety Council’s dire prediction is correct, this Labor Day weekend will be the deadliest travel weekend since 2008. It estimates there will be 439 traffic fatalities.More than 19,000 people have been killed on U.S. roads from January to June in 2016. That’s up 9 percent compared with the first half of 2015, and 18 percent from just two years ago.McMinnville Police Department will be holding a saturation patrol this weekend and working alongside the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol in an attempt to keep local motorists safe.“For those who contribute to society, Labor Day weekend is a time to celebrate those contributions,” said McMinnville Police Lt. Mark Mara.
