McMinnville Police Chief Nichole Mosley is really working to clean up this town.

The chief was joined by several officers on Tuesday to pick up trash along Northgate Drive and North Chancery Street.

“It’s something we wanted to do to show we’re engaged in the community,” said Mosley. “We noticed Northgate Drive had a lot of trash on it and so did Chancery Street around Cleaners Express. So we decided to spend about two hours today picking up trash. We’re going to do the same thing next Tuesday.”

Officers stumbled upon some unexpected good luck. Mosley found a $20 bill while picking up trash and Deputy Chief Mike Lane found $1. The money will be used for a good cause and given to a local charity.

“Every year officers donate their own money to buy pool tokens for Kids of the Community,” said Mosley. “We will be doing that again this year. We’ll add the $21 to our pool token donations so it will go to help kids enjoy Gilley Pool this summer.”
