A local man faces felony assault and meth-making charges after he slammed into a man with his car after an altercation in Smithville and then fled the scene.
The man, Marlin Ray Pinkard, 35, of McMinnville is charged with aggravated assault, evading arrest, manufacture of meth, and fifth-offense driving on a revoked license. He has a prior conviction here for trafficking meth and is still under eight-year probation for his sentencing last year.
He is charged after he allegedly hit Johnny Murphy with his car after the two had an altercation at the victim’s Hayes Street residence in Smithville on Monday night. Authorities say Pinkard ran over the victim, causing a serious leg injury and then left the scene. Murphy was treated for the injury and later released.
Pinkard’s vehicle was found at the Mapco store in Smithville and the suspect was seen coming out of the store. He stepped back inside when he saw police and tried to empty his pockets. He was confronted by police, at which time they found Suboxone pills on him.
A search of his car netted a meth lab. His passenger, Shana Nicole Smiley, 32, of Smithville was arrested on meth charges since she was present in the car.
