Event organizers wishing to take advantage of a multi-event discount at Park Theater can now do so.
A measure that provides a discount when persons or organizations rent the facility for multiple public events has passed 5-2 before the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
Mayor Jimmy Haley, Vice Mayor Ben Newman, and Aldermen Jimmy Bonner, Ryle Chastain and Everett Brock voted in favor, while Aldermen Mike Neal and Steve Harvey voted against it.
The offer does come with a stipulation the events must be held in the same rolling calendar year. A rolling calendar year is any 12-month period. For example, if the first event is offered on Nov. 6, 2016, the event producer will receive a discounted rate for the second, third and fourth rentals during the next 12 months.
Multi-event discount rates:
• First event is at regular rental price
• Second event is a 10 percent discount
• Third event is a 20 percent discount
• Fourth event is a 30 percent discount
While neither Neal nor Harvey voiced disapproval for the discounted rate for multiple events, the policy did include a $750 charge, plus 15 cents a ticket, for use of the city’s box office services and its online service called Ticket Biscuit. Both aldermen voiced disapproval for that charge during past discussions. Organizers wanting to avoid paying the $750 charge can opt to sell their own tickets.
