Park Theater will close May 20 for maintenance.

The city of McMinnville has hired Madison Flooring to repair the concrete floor on the lower level. Work will require closure until June 1 at a cost of $14,845.

“It will look amazing when they are done,” said Park Theater manager Kevin Roberts. “During renovation, the concrete floor was painted. That was it. It’s showing the effects. There’s a lot of chipping and cracking.”

The flooring company is slated to grind the floor and fill in any cracks.

“Once the floor is smooth, they are going to place a basecoat, two coats of double colored epoxy and a clear coat finish,” said Roberts. “It will be much more durable. It would level out any imperfections on the floor.”

Dust will be an issue. Prep work will include covering all 370 seats on the floor, and tarps being placed over the sound booth and the mezzanine floor.

“They said it won’t rise high enough to get into the balcony,” said Roberts, of the dust. “There will be a little bit of work for us to clean everything, but it’s a lot less work than pulling the seats up and putting them back in.”

Madison Flooring has provided a two-year warrantee.
