Park Theater’s balcony has everything required to open, at least by state standards.
“The fire inspection of the Park Theater went smoothly,” said McMinnville Parks and Recreation director Scott McCord. “We’re waiting on the chairs. The last email we got was they would be here before … I’m hesitant to say. Hopefully, in a few weeks, we will have the seats for the balcony.”
The state fire marshal provided a certificate of occupancy, meaning renovation of the balcony has met all state requirements for occupancy and the area can be used as soon as seats are installed. Until that time, the area will remain off limits.
Officials have been patiently waiting for months for the seats. Discount Seating in Jacksonville, Tenn., the same company that provided the seats for the main floor, was contracted in late 2016 to provide refurbished seats for the space with an arrival estimate of approximately eight weeks.
The latest email estimated the date of arrival on or before April 22.
The area was measured and estimated to hold 194 seats, bringing the number of fixed seats up to 569 for the building.
