Orr charged for theft of catalytic converters

An alleged multi-jurisdiction thief has roots in Warren County.

Robert Mitchell Orr III, 55, has been charged with burglary, theft of property and vandalism. Those charges stem from a catalytic converter reported stolen in Warren County.

“On April 20, the Warren County Sheriff ’s Department began receiving reports of catalytic converters being stolen off of vehicles in Warren County,” said Sheriff Tommy Myers. “Over the next month there were numerous catalytic converter thefts in Warren County, Coffee County, the city of McMinnville, and Manchester.”

Warren County Sheriff’s investigators began working closely with investigators from McMinnville Police Department and Coffee County Sheriff’s Department. During that investigation, Orr was generated as a suspect.

A search warrant was obtain May 19 for property on Goodson Road belonging to Robert Mitchell Orr. The property was searched.

Myers says items recovered linked Orr to the catalytic converter thefts, and also recovered at the residence was a camper trailer reported stolen in Warren County and a Harley-Davidson motorcycle reported stolen from Cannon County.

Along with the county’s charges against Orr, McMinnville Police Department obtained warrants on Orr for burglary, theft and vandalism in regard to a catalytic converter theft that occurred in the area of Beersheba Highway.

Warren County Sheriff’s investigators will be presenting additional cases to the Warren County Grand Jury about numerous counts of theft and vandalism related to other stolen catalytic converters, says Myers.

Orr was also served with a violation of probation.
