Traffic was diverted around Angels Bridge on Friday morning as officers and other emergency responders worked a two-vehicle collision.

Both cars were traveling inbound on Nashville Highway at approximately 9:30 a.m. The crash occurred at the entrance of Angels Bridge.

“A Nissan was in the left-hand side lane,” said McMinnville Police officer Brent Hickerson. “That driver stated that the Toyota Camry came up next to her in the right-hand lane and struck her vehicle.”

Driving the Nissan was Brittany Fults, 32, a Warren County resident

The second driver, Loretta Sparks, 66, also of Warren County, was unable to explain how the incident occurred.

“The Toyota’s driver didn’t have any recollection of what happened,” said Hickerson. “I don’t know if that was due to the wreck or a medical situation that she was having prior to it.”

After the initial impact, the Toyota left the road and struck a guardrail.

“When she struck the Nissan, she tried to correct and maybe overcorrected,” said Hickerson “She struck the guardrail pretty hard at almost head-on. She struck it and then bounced off.”

Sparks’ vehicle came to rest in its original right lane of travel.

Fults’ vehicle traveled to the opposite side of the bridge before coming to a stop. It had passenger-side damage. Two juvenile backseat passengers and Fults reported no injuries.

Sparks was transported by Warren County EMS to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park for treatment.

No citations were issued.
