Indictments have been leveled against a man who ran out of his shoes when he jumped from a moving car trying to get away from pursuing officers. The suspect, William Elijah Norris, 30, has been indicted on charge of evading arrest, possession of meth, and driving on a suspended license. His arrest comes after police tried to stop his Chevy Malibu for speeding and running a red light on Manchester Highway. Officer say he fled from them, turning onto Harvest Farm Lake Road.“The driver jumped from the vehicle while it was still in motion and fled on foot,” said McMinnville policeman Aaron Roberts. “When he jumped from the vehicle he lost a shoe and bag that contained 11 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine.”The moving car didn’t do any damage or cause any injuries before coming to a stop.Police discovered that Norris’ driver license had been suspended for failure to pay fines and that he was wanted on an outstanding probation violation warrant, explaining why he ran.
