On Aug. 26 at 7 p.m., Park Theater will present a special “Mother/Daughter Celebration at the Park.” Tickets are now available.
The concert will feature Grammy and Dove Award winner Reba Rambo-McGuire and her daughter Destiny, and Dove Award-winning artist Solveig Leithaug and her daughter Kari, who was the recipient of the first Dottie Rambo Scholarship Award.
The ladies will be presenting a musical program to celebrate the many generations of mothers and daughters and the greatness that springs from family harmonies.
McGuire is a Grammy and Dove Award-winning singer, songwriter, author, minister and teacher. At the age of 13, Reba began traveling with her parents, Buck and Dottie Rambo in the legendary Southern Gospel group the Rambos. Known for their innovative style of inverted, three-part harmony, the Rambos were one of the most successful Gospel trios of the 20th century.
McGuire won her first Dove Award for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year with her project “Lady.” One of the major highlights of her career came when Reba and husband Dony McGuire joined forces as Rambo McGuire and collaborated in writing a concept album, “The Lord’s Prayer.” The album won them a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year, as well as a Dove Award for Worship Album of the Year.
In 2001, Reba was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame along with her parents as members of the Rambos and today Reba carries on her family’s rich musical heritage through her family group, Rambo McGuire.
Leithaug, also a Dove Award-winning recording artist, is an internationally known singer-songwriter and masterful guitar player. She has served as a guest artist at official Parliament functions, national and international conferences and TV broadcasts, cathedrals, prisons and inner-city outreach events. She has also been featured on the Billboard chart-topping Gaither Homecoming video series.
