A man who was allegedly found with 48 guns and methamphetamine appeared in General Sessions Court last week as his case makes its way through the system.
John Edward Montrose, 46, was taken into custody April 25 after police went to his home in reference to stolen property out of Coffee County. Montrose signed a written consent for authorities to search the property.
According to the arrest warrant, authorities found 48 guns, approximately 3.5 ounces of a substance believed to be meth, approximately 1.5 ounces of what is believed to be marijuana, a digital scale, baggies and glass pipes.
The meth and a majority of the guns, including shotguns, rifles and pistols, were found in a safe.
Stolen property out of Coffee County and Cannon County was also discovered.
The arrest warrant states Montrose gave a verbal statement to police that he sold methamphetamine.
Montrose was charged with possession or casual exchange of methamphetamine, possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia, schedule IV drugs and possession of firearm with intent to go armed.
Montrose will appear in court again Oct. 29.
