Mary Rubley and Dian Greene were the hostesses for the Dec. 6 meeting of the Midway FCEC. The group enjoyed a delicious holiday breakfast. President Greene welcomed guests Susan Driver, Yalta Dunlap and Beckee Bell. Irene Fuston led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Treasurer Rubley gave the financial report.
Tables were decorated with a collection of Santas and magnolia leaves. A new Christmas tree and decorations were purchased by the club, and were enjoyed. Rubley, Greene, Betty Grissom, Elva Dean Bell and Fuston met and trimmed the tree.
Members donated toys for the Rescue Squad, food items for the food bank, hygiene items for the Middle School and Child Advocacy Center, monetary donation to the Kids of the Community program, Nursing Home Christmas and Share a Christmas Dinner in memory of Mildred Spicer. In 2018 the club will continue to collect can tabs for the Ronald McDonald House, and secret pal. Barbara Corum and Yalta Dunlap are our newest members.
Everyone gathered around the tree to reveal our secret pals by opening presents. A game of passing a gift was a lot of fun, and Bell played the piano with everyone singing carols. Vice president Betty Whitlock had a fun Christmas carol game that turned out to be both confusing and fun.
The next meeting will be Jan. 3 at the Midway CIC Center.
