Do you qualify for extra help with Medicare costs?
The State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is conducting an event at Magness Library on June 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. Anyone who is low income and on Medicare can be screened to see if they qualify for extra help with Medicare costs.
Imagine yourself in a situation where you cannot afford to pay for anything other than your medication. Sadly, many seniors in our community are forced to live this way and do not know how to escape this financial burden. Each year, prices for medications rise while income often remains stagnant.
Without an increase of income, many senior citizens are now being forced to pick between medication or basic life necessities: food, water, light, etc. Not only does this have direct health implications for them, but it can produce high levels of stress.
