A McMinnville man wanted on a federal gun charge has been arrested for being in possession of two stolen pickups and a stolen camper.
Dustin Ray McKillip, 37, was reportedly living in the stolen camper on Underwood Road and fled from police when they came to arrest him.
According to McMinnville Police, McKillip appeared on their radar when he was learned to be in possession of a gun as a convicted felon.
“When we went to arrest him, he ran into the woods,” said McMinnville Police detective Todd Rowland. “So we brought more officers to the scene and were able to apprehend him.”
Found on the property was a Ford Explorer that was stolen from the parking lot of Warehouse Discount Gro-ceries about a month ago. Rowland said it’s an older vehicle that doesn’t even need a key to start. The Explorer was in the process of being stripped down when law enforcement found it.
Also found on the property was a GMC Sonoma pickup that was also getting stripped down for parts. It was reportedly stolen from Cotton Apartments about a week earlier.
“Both were older vehicles valued at around $1,000 or $1,500,” said Rowland. “We don’t know if he stole them, but they were on his property so we charged him with possession of stolen property.”
McKillip was reportedly living in the stolen camper which was taken from Redmon’s Storage in Newtown. Rowland said surveillance video from the property shows McKillip stealing the camper, which was described as an older camper.
