Marine to tell of survival at sea

His ship was hit by Japanese torpedoes and sunk in a matter of minutes in the Philippine Sea.He survived four days in the water, clinging to a life jacket and debris – and praying he wouldn’t be eaten by sharks.He is Marine veteran Edgar Harrell, one of 23 still-living survivors of the USS Indianapolis. Harrell will be in McMinnville this Sunday, Sept. 11, to recount his harrowing tale at The Redeption Center, located at 127 Northgate Drive behind Waffle House. His speech is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.“It was 110 degrees, we were bareheaded, and we had no water,” said Harrell.
