A man wanted for sexual battery and rape was taken into custody at his home on Sunday, but not before he cut his own throat and was tased by deputies.The suspect, James Everett Smith, 30, is in custody at Warren County Jail after undergoing a mental evaluation.According to Sheriff Jackie Matheny, deputies went to Smith’s home on Kennedy Circle in the Mt. Leo area to serve a warrant for his arrest for violation of parole, rape, and sexual battery. They reportedly knocked on his door for some time, but no one would answer.Believing Smith was at home because his vehicle was in the driveway, deputies made their way around the home.“They spotted him through a back bedroom window,” said Matheny, noting deputies then gained entry into the home to serve the warrant.
