A local man was in court Tuesday on aggravated stalking charges and violating an order of protection for the fifth time for reportedly placing a homing device on a female’s car as it was parked at Walmart.
Edward Ray Lowery Jr., 42, faces four charges which also include unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of meth.
The arrest warrant states, “Ed Lowery has threatened to kill her if she was found in a relationship with someone else.”
Lowery’s case is headed to the Grand Jury where an indictment means the state can proceed with the case against him. The charges would be dismissed if no true bill is returned by the Grand Jury.
According to the warrants for his arrest, the incident took place July 1 when Lowery entered Walmart with a friend. Walmart video in the store and parking lot shows the friend purchasing the tracking device and Lowery walking over and approaching the female’s car.
The female said she noticed the tracking device in the tow hitch of her vehicle while she was still in the Walmart parking lot. Police investigators arrived on scene and placed the tracking device into evidence.
The arrest warrant says, “Edward Lowery stated via a spontaneous utterance upon his arrest and arrival to jail that he placed the Samsung Smart Tag on the vehicle.”
With a warrant, McMinnville police officials searched Lowery’s home that same day due to the protection order violation. Two guns were reportedly found, the arrest warrant says, along with meth in a pickup and the residence.
