A man is facing aggravated domestic assault charges after allegedly hitting a woman with a shovel.
Kermit Peebles is charged with aggravated domestic assault and violation of conditional release. He received the aggravated assault charge in February. According to the warrant, on Feb. 19, Warren County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Hunter Bouldin was dispatched to a physical domestic with a weapon. Deputy Bouldin spoke to the victim who stated she got into an argument with Peebles. She stated that during the argument, Peebles slapped her with an open hand, hit her with a shovel then repeatedly punched and kicked her on several parts of her body while she was on the ground.
Peebles was arrested. His bond was set at $10,000 and a no contact order was put in place. Peebles received the violation of conditional release charge after reportedly breaking the no contact order.
According to the warrant, on March 12, the victim returned from out of town. While she was out of town, Peebles had allegedly tried numerous times to contact her. The warrant states Peebles had been trying to contact the victim since March 4.
The victim has an active order of protection against Peebles that went into effect in February. The warrant states Peebles sent her approximately nine text messages and called her at least 12 times since the order of protection was in place. The victim and her two children were in fear for their safety. Peebles was arrested again and charged with criminal contempt of bond conditions. He was scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on Tuesday.
