Current Sparta City Councilman and longtime educator Jerry Lowery has officially announced his candidacy in the Republican Primary for District 43 State Representative. Lowery is a military veteran who has been a public school teacher for nearly three decades. He is a deacon and trustee for Sparta First Baptist Church, where he also teaches adult Sunday school classes and assists with Wednesday night youth activities.
