Local churches collecting donations for hurricane relief

Disaster relief efforts in Texas are projected to take more than a year in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.Local church officials say there’s still plenty of time to donate before they transport their first batch of supplies to the Houston area on Sept. 29. The drop-off point for this collection is Pioneer Community Church on Yager Road from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday.“We received a lot of donations last week, but really not much this week,” said Pioneer Community Church paster Jon Ballard. “I think people believe it’s too late when it’s not.
