“You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” Songs of Christmas is the theme for this year’s Christmas parade set for Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.

McMinnville’s 2021 Christmas Parade will be filled with the sounds of Christmas.

“Songs of Christmas is the winner by a landslide,” said Michael Benusches, Parks and Recreation’s program coordinator. “I think it’s great. I’m excited to see the creativity of the floats in the songs we all know and love during the most wonderful time of the year.”

All floats must be within the theme. Playing Christmas music is encouraged by all entries.

This was the first year the city of McMinnville has allowed the public to weigh in on the parade theme. Votes were taken through Monday and tabulated Tuesday morning.

Categories to choose from:

• Everyone is Santa

• Santa’s Workshop.

• Let is Snow.

• Songs of Christmas.

• The 12 days of Christmas.

Among the online votes cast on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page was one from Teresa Smoot Pepper, who stated “4. Every float has to be a different Christmas song theme. There’s a lot of different Christmas songs.”

Tiffany Davis wanted to give the parade increasingly numerous gifts over 12 days.

“The 12 days of Christmas! When people register give them their day how they register and if you run out just start back over so every day will be done,” said Davis.

The 12 days of Christmas came in second place.

McMinnville’s 2021 Christmas Parade with the theme “Songs of Christmas” will be held Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
