A McMinnville man was arrested for a series of cocaine charges.

On two different instances, Troy Devlin Hoover, 26, was arrested for allegedly having cocaine in his possession. The first occurrence was in May of 2022 when Deputy Peyton Norris responded to a welfare check on Remington Lane. A vehicle was reported to be sitting with its flashers on and the driver slumped over.

Upon arrival, Norris identified the driver as being Hoover. Hoover then allegedly admitted to Deputy Norris that he had a cocaine problem. According to Norris, he “had Troy D. Hoover get out of the vehicle and observed two alcoholic beverages in the vehicle.” Norris also reported Hoover having blood shot eyes and slurred speech.

Norris placed Hoover under arrest after he reportedly failed a sobriety test, then Norris searched the vehicle. According to Deputy Norris, he “found a bag believed to be cocaine in the driver’s door pocket.” Norris was also notified by dispatch that Hoover’s license was suspended for failure to pay fines out of General Sessions as of Nov. 14, 2021.

Once at the Sheriff’s Department, Norris weighed the bag that was retrieved from the vehicle and it reportedly came out to be 19.6 grams. Hoover was booked for one count of 0.5 grams or more of a schedule II drug, one count of driving under the influence and one count of second of subsequent offense of driving while license was suspended.

A second incident while out on bail left Hoover with additional drug charges.

Around 7 p.m. on Oct. 6, 2022, officers were dispatched to the Quick Shop gas station for a suspicious vehicle sitting in the back of the parking lot since 8 a.m. According to Deputy Brystol Davis, the officers spoke with Hoover, the driver of the car, and Trey Johnson, the passenger. Johnson was found to have an outstanding warrant for probation violation and was placed into custody.

Hoover then reportedly consented to a search of the vehicle. According to Deputy Davis, “Upon search of the vehicle, a silver tray was found in the passenger floor board with a white powder substance that is said to be cocaine.”

Reportedly found between the center console and the passenger seat was a plastic baggie of a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine. According to Davis, “A continued search was completed and in a hidden console under the radio, officers located an additional baggie of white powder, estimated two grams, of suspected cocaine. This was located with Troy Hoover’s debit card with his name on it. He was Mirandized during the process and denies any ownership.”

Johnson answered to his crimes in December and was ordered to serve 60 days for possession or casual exchange of meth and fined $900. He was also given 30 days for violation of probation. Hoover was charged with casual exchange of a schedule II drug and possession or casual exchange of meth.
