Life is “ruff” so relax and enjoy a fundraiser at Park Theater on Aug. 7 to benefit Helping Animals of Warren County.
The special guest band is a Cuban rock group from Havana. Sweet Lizzy Project is known in many parts of the world and continues to grow in popularity. The band was formed in 2013 when lead singer Lisset Diaz, otherwise known as Lizzy, met with the band’s guitarist, Miguel Comas, and collaborated on their songs. When they released their first album in 2015 “Heaven,” other talented musicians joined the band because of the album’s success. In 2017, the band performed on PBS’s “Havana Time Machine” alongside The Mavericks in Cuba. The lead singer for The Mavericks invited the band to come to Nashville and offered them a recording contract.
Currently, Sweet Lizzy Project is recording an album titled “Technicolor” at Blackbird Studios in Nashville. The album is expected to be released this year.
Helping Animals of Warren County was formed to 2016 with the purpose of uniting people and organizations to better the lives of animals.
It offers low cost spay/neuter vouchers to individuals, works closely with both animal control departments, and animal organizations within the community.
President of HAWC, Hollie Cox, encourages people to attend this exceptional band for new and exciting music and to help a good cause.
“The more support and donations we get, the more animals and groups we are to help,” said Cox. “I met Lisset Diaz when she came in from Cuba to watch the PBS premier of ‘Havana Time Machine’ at Park Theater. She was so sweet and I got to see samples of their music during their feature on the show.”
Sweet Lizzy played a sold-out show at the first Bluegrass Underground since it has moved to a new cave in Pelham.
“Sweet Lizzy is a new to USA group I think will go far, so please help us sell this show out,” said Cox.
Tickets can be purchased for $15 using a link located on Park Theater’s website. Music begins at 7 p.m. For more information call Park Theater at 506-2787 or visit HAWC on its Facebook page.
