Helping Animals of Warren County is helping unite cats with forever homes while preventing the production of more.
The nonprofit organization financially funded the spaying or neutering of four cats at Warren County Animal Control and Adoption Center in order for the facility to waive the cost for adoption.
“HAWC is happy to be partnering with Animal Control and local vet services to get animals spayed and neutered in hopes they can find their forever homes quicker,” said Holly Cox, HAWC president.
The nonprofit organization works for the betterment of animals in Warren County.
“The more donations we get in, the more animals we can help sponsor,” said Cox. “It’s a win, win for the community. If more people would spay or neuter their pets on the front end, we wouldn’t have so many in shelters waiting for homes.”
HAWC members promote and educate on the importance of spay/ neuter of pets to reduce the number of unwanted pets, encourage the enforcement of laws that protect animals, and improve animal protection and control services.
Animal Control officer Shelby Newman expressed her gratitude for the continued support from HAWC and said that of the four cats, Dragon is more a people person.
“Dragon is a little undecided about people, but he is a very nice cat and he warms up to you pretty quickly,” said Newman. “He might be OK as an indoor cat, but he’ll probably love to be outside too. The other three cats would be better suited for outside or as a barn cat. I’d like to say thank you to HAWC for everything it does to help us, the animals and the community.”
